Safe use of cylinders

  • Examine the risks associated with gas before using it!
  • Tighten and secure all pipes subject to vibrations, as there is a possibility of leakage as a result of exposure to continuous vibration.
  • Before applying pressure to the system, always check the permissible operating pressure. Higher pressure is not permitted!
  • Equipment must be checked and calibrated on a regular basis. Equipment must never be turned to face the wall.
  • Never disassemble the equipment without first making sure that there is no excessive pressure in the system. In the event of disassembly, pressure gauges are not considered reliable. Never use a wrench until the pressure has dropped in the system!
  • A direct stream of high-pressure gas from the cylinder can take an eye out!
  • Do not tamper with high pressure. This may be fatal – damage to internal organs, loss of an eye, etc.!
  • Never use a stream of gas to blow debris off the ground, or on clothes or hair!
  • A full tank can become a rocket when the valve is unscrewed (or broken). Despite its weight of 65 kg, it can accelerate up to 55 km/h!
  • Keep oil and grease off the cylinder and valve. Oil and grease mixed with gases such as oxygen form an explosive mixture!
  • Never remove or change markings on the gas cylinder!
  • Check the cylinder valve and other systems for leaks. The easiest way to check for leaks is to use soap and water.
  • If you are not using the gas, even for a short time, close the valve!
  • Look after yourself!
